Mir Laiq Ali Khan, Salar Jung II

Mir Laiq Ali Khan Salar Jung II was a former Prime Minister of Hyderabad state (1884–1887). He belonged to the noble family of the Salar Jungs.
Nizam VI and Salar Jung II were classmates and good friends. Their relationship was very informal.
On October 31, 1883, he was bestowed with the title of ''Salar Jung II'' and ''Muniruddaula'' by the VI Nizam, and on February 5, 1884, he was appointed the Prime Minister. Mir Laiq Ali Khan continued the reforms initiated by his father, Salar Jung I.
Some noblemen took objection to Salar Jung II smoking in the Nizam's presence and Salar Jung II left Hyderabad and settled in Pune.
Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Salar Jung III was “Born”. On 4 June 1889 at The Palatial Glad Hurst House at Poona (Maharashtra), which was sold for a song by the Salar Jung Estate committee in the year 1950 for reasons best known to them.
Salar Jung II resigned in April 1887, due to court intrigues and internal politics and the Nizam, Mir Mahboob Ali Khan took over the administration of the dominion.
